With more than a decade of experience in the legal industry, Billy J. Brown is a seasoned transactional attorney that has spent a large portion of his career providing advice and counsel to developers, resorts, associations, and other professionals – with a particular focus on complex acquisitions and closings, timeshare resorts, and the hospitality industry. He has executed complex eight figure closings and conversions, thousands of non-judicial foreclosures, and has represented developers, resorts, and associations from implementation to termination including registration, corporate matters, operations issues, litigation and government investigations, and satisfying state registration and disclosure requirements. In fact, Billy has numerous publications on these subjects including “A Viable Solution: Right-sizing, Non-Judicial Foreclosures, and Termination” published in Developments Magazine which chronicled his experiences saving struggling resorts.
Before founding Orlando City Law, P.A., Billy was a named partner of Mark & Brown, P.A. where he primarily focused on transactional, hospitality, property, civil and estates. Billy’s passion for assisting those in need lead him to also expand the elder care law portion of the practice in order to provide counsel for families in crisis. While at Mark & Brown, P.A., Billy served as legal counsel for numerous timeshare resorts and associations, foreclosed on over 10,000 delinquent timeshare owners, handled complex international closings including hotels, trailer parks, and businesses.
In 2017, Billy founded Orlando City Law, P.A. where he has handled eight-figure closings, hotel conversions, timeshare terminations, and non-judicial foreclosures. He also continues assisting clients with business development and startups, elder law, property, and is counsel for numerous associations. Billy has been counsel on seven-figure medical malpractice cases as well as eight-figure construction defect litigation.
Billy grew up in Ocala, Florida and later attended the University of Central Florida where he was Vice President of the Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity, held the coveted position as the assistant for the esteemed Professor Paul Chapman, and was awarded the Dean Scholarship.
After graduating Cum Laude, Billy chose to attend law school at the University of Florida, Levin College of Law. There he was invited to South Africa by Professor Winston Nagan where Billy studied law at the University of Cape Town while he focused and worked in international law, commercial law, and human rights earning him the prestigious “book award.” Billy then returned to the University of Florida where he served as a research and teacher assistant in Legal Drafting.
Billy began his legal career in Orlando, Florida where he continued to work on important social issues as well as gained extensive experience in the transactional, medical and business law which led him to open multiple medical offices of his own as well as a restaurant bearing his name.
Through his endeavors, Billy was bestowed the American Legion Award for Distinguished Achievement, the Gillenwater Award for Excellence, and was awarded ‘Business of the Year’ by the Chamber. Billy also attended Leadership Orlando and is on the Board of Family Foundations of Northeast Florida which provides mental health and financial counseling.
